A Revitalized Disc Environment:
Spinal experts have known for decades that discs, in a compressed, anaerobic state, find it next to impossible to heal, Through Decompression Therapy, negative pressure is created in the nucleus pulposus (the jelly- like center of discs) drawing in moisture, oxygen, and nutrients from the surrounding body tissues. The disc wall (or annulus fibrosis) of the nucleus polposus is thus strengthened after each decompression, mimicking the same healing and repair process which occurs in a bone fracture. In this revitalized environment some experts surmise this process this process reactivates fibroblasts (the repair workers in the disc), sealing up tears in the disc wall. This has recently been confirmed with pre- and post-treatment discograms, and the long-term relief of chronic back pain patients, some who have suffered more than 20 years. The DRX 9000 System distracting process has been shown by MRIs to
Widen the disc height space allowing a decrease in intradiscal pressure while helping the disc reposition itself. This results in shrinkage of the herniation, and reduction or elimination of pressure on surrounding nerves. While results do vary, most back pain patients who have completed DRX Therapy resume their normal, active lifestyle with their newly invigorated discs providing better support to the spine. This includes long tern chronic or post-surgical "Hard" cased, At the conclusion of the treatment series the patient is taught strengthening exercises, and counseled to avoid re-injury.
DRX Treatment Protocol: DRX
Therapy is performed upon patients while fully clothed. Each treatment session requires 30 to 45 minutes of decompression with additional time for ice pack applications, hot pack or massage (sometimes via Dry Hydro Therapy), and/or electrical muscle stimulation, if needed, after the procedure and are generally pain-free with a significant return of function within twenty decompression sessions. Some patients require periodic "maintenance" sessions. Most patients fall asleep during their treatment---it's that comfortable! Many experience significant pain relief after the first few minutes on the machine.
Recent clinical research* has shown that 86% of chronic back pain patients suffering from herniated or bulging discs, joint problems, arthritis and sciatica were effectively corrected with the DRX 900 System. While the cost for one diskectomy costs tens of thousands of dollars, and only treats one disc, twenty DRX Therapy sessions cost a fraction as much, while treating the entire low back. Getting employees and executives back to work faster represents significant, additional savings for industry, as well as eliminating the expensive disability payments while also avoiding the escalation in group health insurance rates that follow back surgery for one of the covered members.
